Get to know me.
I’m a Michigan State University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree. More importantly, I was a free range kid that grew up watching my dad work in his pottery studio and ultimately having the freedom to work with clay since I was first toddling around. With my work, I want to create a favorite piece that you reach for time & time again. I want to hold a space in your routine and create a personal connection that can’t be replicated by an object that is factory made. I believe the joy in using a handmade object is discovering little surprises that may have happened purposely from the artist’s touch or the unpredicted changes from the kiln firing process. The practice of making is where I feel the magic; the act of being in the studio and committing your time with a piece from start to finish creates a deep appreciation for a finished product. I hope others can feel the sense of care I take when interacting with my work.
“I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life. If you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it full speed. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good.”
— Roald Dahl
